Structural Waterproofing
Waterproofing has become an integral part of new and existing buildings.
Waterproofing allows us to make better use of our buildings. We see basements in almost every city across Ireland; these areas are often inhabitable due to their damp nature, which is completely normal for the era in which they were built.
Making Use of Modern Technology Allows Us to Waterproof
These Areas in A Conservation Friendly Way.Remember, it’s not only important to protect our buildings from the outside; we must protect them from the foundations up. A suitably specified waterproofing system will ensure a building is protected from ground damp and from vapour.
Waterproofing comes in three forms: Type A, Type B and Type C.
We Specialise in Type A and Type C Waterproofing
Type A and Type C can be fitted retrospectively as well as for a building that’s undergoing construction. The services we offer satisfy these two types.
Type A - Barrier Protection System
Better known as ‘tanking’ amongst construction professionals, it is a method of protecting habitable areas against the penetration of moisture. This can be moisture from the ground, subsoil water or precipitation.
Tanking can be defined as a 'complete encasement of the building foundations below ground with a continuous membrane beneath the floor slab of the basement, the lift pit and up all external walls to and sometimes above ground level.'
Tanking is not exclusive to below ground. Roof gardens and decking areas such as car parks can also be tanked. Tanking is also useful where a building has a split level and partial tanking is needed.
Type A systems can be cementitious or membrane based.

Type C - Cavity drained systems
Cavity drained systems are designed to control the passage of water using cavity forming membranes, drainage channels and sump and pump water evacuation systems.
Drainage membranes have a stud profile that allows any water ingress to be channelled down and evacuated to the outside of the property into a drain or natural drainage point.
These systems can be applied to walls and floors in a basement area as well as to roof gardens.
